Dance Major
Audition Requirements

All dance applicants participate in an audition class and should be prepared to demonstrate their ability in ballet, jazz, or modern dance technique followed by the execution of a center floor combination and a short phrase.

During the audition, the Dean of Dance along with the dance faculty will observe and judge the applicant. The following attributes will be considered: body structure, technical potential, proficiency at the level, and potential in the performance or teaching of dance. The required attire for the audition is the same for participation in any of the dance classes.

Video/DVD Audition Requirements

We encourage Diploma School applicants from outside the region to audition and interview at our Hartford, Connecticut campus. Distance may prevent this. In lieu of coming to Hartford applicants may submit an audition video/DVD as outlined below for each department.
